Belmore to Belgium: Rodrigo Palomino, Soccer Star
Australian football players caught up our old friend Rodrigo Palomino in a frank interview on the way he was discovered. Rodrigo Palomino is Chilean born, has played his football to Granville, NSW and was spotted by a one Saturday in 1994 while playing for his team. Before he knew he had the tickets waiting at the airport. A trial of ten days was organized by Belgium KSV Waregem Club. Arrived late at night Thursday. Friday meant a training run with the team even if he had not recovered from jet lag. The next day he played his first game against the top national players Fielding Belgium. Playing his best scores Rodrigo a goal, short rings around the opposition and proves he has the match fitness to compete at the highest level. The contract is signed. All story tale. Rodrigo one of our friends accept this candid interview where we try to shed light on the subject of fairy tales and success.
Q: Rodrigo at 21 years when you were offered a trial, what were your first thoughts? I thought the hunter was joking and did not really take it seriously.
Q: How did you adjust to your new environment? Countries, languages, teammates? It is difficult in the begining.I just focused on the implementation on the ground and then everything fell into place.
Q. You mentioned the speed at which the game was played upon arrival. Do you think much has changed in football? Yes, the game is simply more rapidly every year.
Q: In an article we have studied, your name as "The Conqueror" Is this due to your scoring prowess? Yes.
Rodrigo Palomino seen here in green and white. Q. You played for many clubs abroad. What was the best club according to your success? Royal Francs Borain club.I was my most successful past 4 years there and the first goal scored ministry each year.
Q: What are your thoughts on football in Australia? Development Youth in particular? Something must be done about our development youth.Youth is non existent in Australia Australia.Soccer really start thinking to the section in our game if we want to produce players of the world and not the players going to England and hang around a few players need years.We grow and take this country for the World Cups on a regular basis is not every 30yrs.
Q: If you could have your time again, would you change something about your football career? No, because even if it's just a sport, it teaches you some lessons about life and how the other part of the world travels.
Q: Do you think fitness is more important highest level of football? Yes. It's simple – no fitness means you will lead nowhere because of the speed of the game is traveling these days.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring football players? Never give up! And there is always someone watching.
Q: do you offer to young players do, see, see? Fair and simple and above all respect for your coach.
