RC helicopters – how much do they cost to manufacture?
I just bought my kids one of these helicopters target a little over $ 30.00. What do you think is the cost of making this toy in China? It has a very small engine and lightweight body is made of lightweight foam. I think it costs about $ 5-7 to make. A wholesaler picks 'em for $ 10 each, then sell' em at Target for $ 17-20 each, and then target them brands and sells' em for $ 30 each. Am I out so guestimate? If I had to buy all these things to someone in China, what I'm buy a fucking boat loaded (literally) to get 'em at $ 10 each? I mean, why would not someone in China to open shop and sell 'em for $ 15 each – they make a killing!
The helicopter is very cheap. The Air Hogs Havoc (I you are assuming, or a similar form of helicopter) is very simple. Front to back: There is the battery, then the wire connects to the chip (Servo) and next to that is the engine, above that is a gear that turns the propeller. Keep going further back, to Following the thread to the rear of the engine has a gear that rotates the rear propeller. Its really simple. The actual cost of manufacturing the same as I read was $ 4.30 USD.
