Walkera 1 # review

Discussion Walkera 5G6 / opinion

The Walkera 1 # A helicopter is ready fly with a brushless motor, Li-Po and cruise all inclusive. No need for other improvements, unless you want to upgrade the head rotor with a metal version. Not only Walkera 1 # Look, it was also very well fly. The first thing I noticed was the lowest up Weighing only 380 grams. This is the reason for its excellent flight characteristics.

If you want a cheap 3D ready to fly out Helicopter box, look no further.

Technical and design review

Let by the main rotor. The Walkera 1 # A is supplied as standard with a plastic head rotor rotors fiberglass and the main assembly. If necessary, you can update a metal rotor head, but for mild 3D aerobatics, the standard plastic mounting the rotor head will do the job with ease. The blade is sitting on top of the Assembly rotor head. The rock slide shaft on ball bearings inside the head rotor, which makes it easy for the flybar paddles to make them work during the flight.

The rock stabilizer bar up and down between the holders the blade swashplate to ensure control cyclic main rotor. The links between the flybar and blade holders can be adjusted when you need to set the monitoring of the blade. The Walkera 1 # A have a 120 ° swashplate to include cyclic, collective and Pitch Mixing (CCPM) to perfection 3D maneuvers.

The main axis runs through the mainframe on two ball bearings. At the bottom of the main shaft, main gear is located, which also includes the timing belt pulley that drives the tail rotor.

The Walkera 1 # A four 9g servos. Three are located on the main frame. A seat to the right of the main shaft, two behind the main shaft, and a servo on the tail. Walkera simplified the main frame so that three actuators can be easily unscrewed for replacement if necessary.

The Walkera 1 # A has a powerful outrunner brushless motor Walkera (WK-WS-26-002) which is in front of the main shaft. A pinion 15 teeth gives Walkera 1 # An abundance of power.

The landing gear is made of plastic and metal tubes. The landing gear feels quite solid, but still light weight. I think he can handle the odd landing lasts without breaking.

The seven-channel receiver is in the nose of the helicopter. Below the main gear, holds a tray Li-Po battery and 20A ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) in place. Both Li-Po battery and ESC simply slides into position on the board. The Walkera 1 # A battery Li-Po 1200 gives 9 minutes of flight time, depending on the type of flight. To charge the Li-Po, using the Li-Po charger that comes with the Walkera 1 # A kit.

Walkera Gyro (WK-G016) is sitting behind the elevator and aileron servos on the main frame. Below is the gyro, the tail is locked in place with two screws. The Walkera 1 # A have a metal tail boom, which integrates support for the rudder servo, mounting backstay boom and tail rotor. The tail is showing off with two graphite rods between the gear and the support strut in the middle of the tail.

The rotor servo tail rudder inputs gives fast via a drawbar for changes in height on the tail rotor. A belt that runs inside the tail tail rotor discs. The tail rotor blades are made of durable plastic and can easily be replaced if necessary. The tail rotor has four ball High quality ball.

Overall, Walkera 1 # A have a very simple but effective design makes this little helicopter Walkera flagship model to day. The only downfall I could find is that the helicopter is heavy tail, but can easily be corrected.

Preflight controls

As a former pilot mall, I'm still in the habit of making a thorough inspection before the flight. Never assume that the helicopter is properly configured, no matter what brand of R / C helicopter you buy. I do the following checks before my first flight to ensure a flight safety and success of the first.
Check all moving parts for all components in bulk or screws.
Make sure the rotor blades principal are balanced.
Check the movement of all servos and they are moving in the right direction.
Check the blade tracking.
Very important, check the helicopters CG (center of gravity). My Walkera 1 # A was tail heavy, so I removed the battery ESC and the tank and moved the battery to the front of receiver. I use Velcro to attach the battery below the receiver. The ESC has been secured using the links below the main gear cable. With this configuration, the CG is on site.
Make sure the gyro direction is correct.
Sure that all batteries are fully charged.

Flight performance

The Walkera 1 # A gets the air at about 55% of gas. Then I cut the helicopter, I noticed it is fairly stable hover. The rudder is a bit slow, so after I turned the gyro sensitivity 60%, the rudder was very sensitive to both left and right. I found the gyro is very effective. You can adjust the gyro to suite your flying skills.

Collective very sensitive. All entries gas above 55%, and the helicopter will start to climb without any effort. cyclic inputs are crisp and fast. Transition to forward flight is very good, and even reverse flight. Throttle exponential curve, sensitivity gyro rudder mixing and height can be adjusted on the transmitter. You may find that the helicopter to be sensitive to you during your first flight, adjust the throttle curve, exponential sensitivity gyro rudder mixing and pitch so that you have a helicopter that flies well, you think flying skills.

Overall, Walkera 1 # A is a very nice helicopter to fly with great features. I look forward explore the 3D flight envelope in the near future. I'm sure Walkera 1 # A and will compete among other helicopters in its class. I must say that this helicopter is definitely for someone who already has experience RC helicopter. This is not a beginners helicopter.

Reason to buy the Walkera 1 # A

The Walkera 1 # A is very stable during the flight.
It is very easy to fly, if you have flying experience.
The gyroscope is very effective.
It is capable 3D.
The parts are easy to obtain.
Overall good flight characteristics.
It can be done outside the light wind conditions.
And it's not so expensive to buy.

Conclusion

If you want to own the helicopter RC Walkera lighthouse, buy Walkera 1 # A. You will not be disappointed.

Features

CCPM mixing control system and collective pitch allows 3D maneuvers such roll, inverted flight and shot.
Metal rotor head and metal tail boom make HM 1 # A firm and simplified, and the servo easy to install.
blades driven by belt provide easy adjustment, stable flight response and quick.
High performance outer rotor allows for flight training powerful and stable.
The flight time on 7.4V 1200mAh Li-Po will be 7 to 9 minutes depending on the type of combat.
7-CH Transmitter PCM WK-0701 with adjustable PIT parameter, throttle curve and the regulator of the exponential function.

Upgrading of two LiPo cells three-cell LiPo

Note that the Walkera 1 # A is already a small helicopter high performance straight out of the box. I tested my Walkera 1 # A with a cell 1300 mAh 11.1V LiPo three HiModel battery, and was amazed by the extra power. The power is double compared to the two LiPo cells. The1300 11.1 mAh LiPo battery of three cells HiModel fits perfectly under the receiver and gives the Walkera 1 # A perfect center gravity.

Take care before your first flight. Because of the additional tension, turn the throttle curve to bring the head the rotor speed. My throttle curve in normal flight mode and 3D mode of flight is set at the lowest value.

You also reduce the servo exponential while the Walker A # 1 is not too sensitive to control during flight. Set the DIP switch 10, and adjust V1 while the helicopter begins flying at about 50% of gas.

You will be surprised by the huge difference between the wise two cells and three cell LiPo performance.

Never miss this great little helicopter.
