A Brand New Big Electric RC Helicopter: The Hurricane 550
Electric RC helicopters are becoming more popular every day. But one of their main criticisms is that they do not have great models. Most electric RC helicopters are of size 400, which are not still as large as 30 helicopters nitro size – the smallest species. the electric RC helicopter pilots who wanted to fly bigger models has roughly one model to choose – the T-REX 600 which although performs extremely well, comes with a high price. But since the production line Gaui, manufacturer of many success of models such as zooming and the Shogun, is another model to fill the void in the market for electric helicopter size: 550 hurricane. With a much lower price, the Hurricane 550 will undoubtedly provide pilots who want to try their hands on a model helicopter electric appliance with a promising alternative.
In the box:
The Hurricane 550 comes as an ARF (almost ready to fly) kit and claims to be 95% pre-assembled in the factory. You have to install the radio receiver, servos and gyro – a task that usually takes at least one hour for beginners. However, the main frame, the entire head and tail are already assembled. The frame is made of a composite plastic that is strong and durable. How individual pieces are assembled should be quite impressive. Although the model is pre-assembled, The manual provides detailed instructions on how to completely rebuild from scratch. It is very nice as lacking these instructions would make major repairs difficult.
The canopy is already pre-painted. For many people who paint is not their strong character, this canopy is great news. On the other hand, others who enjoy airbrushing their own helicopter may be less appreciated. In terms of quality, it should be noted that the canopy is substantially thinner than other models, making them more sensitive subject. However, the veil is thinnest good weight-saver. This kit also includes a motor and a controller. The motor, outrunner 800 kV, has been upgraded to generate less heat and consume less energy.
As for the battery, the hurricane gets its need 22.2 V 11.1 V from two packs. Personally I think it's a very clever way to implement its power system – unlike the T-Rex 600 which requires a new battery pack expensive.
The wooden blade that comes with the kit is already sufficient. However, for modelers who want something different, this model can take any blade for a helicopter size, 32 nitro, namely the size of blades 470-550.
In flight:
In flight the Hurricane 550 proves an able helicopter. Beginner to intermediate pilots should find that this model is very fun to drive, agile and quick. It is not as aggressive and the T-REX 600, but then again, you do not want to push this model to fly the most demanding 3D maneuver the tray cyclic plastic. With regard to flight time, this model can stay airborne for 8 minutes of normal flight and 5 minutes of 3D flight. Overall although this model does not come with the tail of aluminum, carbon bodies, and bright accessories for T-REX, it is really worth its price.
