What type of batteries in the radio have the longest running time?

I plan to pass RC (ie cars, planes or helicopters) as a new hobby. I saw a helicopter on an auction site, but the salesman said that the battery has a running time of 6 7 minutes. Is this normal? Does not look like a bunch of fun, unless I buy a good battery years. Of the three, which has the longest track time? I prefers helicopters, but I want more for their money in startup.

Lithium would be my first choice. If lithium is not available, then I'd see if I could get nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), but not as good as lithium, it is preferable that the nickel-cadmium (NiCd). With lithium you get full power until the battery runs out, you're also able to load them at any time and leave them on the charger. NiCd a memory if you have the burden to exhaust all channels (or really low) before loading This will reduce the use or because he thinks your last load point is the point of exhaustion. Regarding longevity RC logically I think the plain use less battery because its slides. Although I did not have personal knowledge of this. Sorry.
